Pilot in Mexico City Holds Plane in Protest Over Unpaid Wages

A pilot of the airline Magnicharters 'hijacked' a plane with passengers at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) this Friday, December 19th. In the video, the pilot, who identified himself as Édgar Macías González, can be seen telling the passengers that the plane is being held in protest over alleged labor irregularities and because he was supposedly fired just hours before. 'I have been with the airline for almost three years. I have never missed a flight, never missed anything, and my superior knows that. I have always been dedicated to the passengers. A passenger's smile, their face, is priceless. We have invested a lot in this profession for them to one day say: 'Well, you're fired',' the pilot is heard saying. He also denounced precarious working conditions, unpaid wages, and technical failures in the aircraft. 'This plane will not leave until they pay us what they owe us.'
